Prefeasibility Study for the Upgrading of the Lethem Aerodrome to a Regional Airport
The Ministry of Public Infrastructure invites eligible Consultants to submit proposals for the Prefeasibility Study for the Upgrading of the Lethem Aerodrome to a Regional Airport. The Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) of Guyana aims to upgrade the runway and taxiway to meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards as well as the provision of terminal and auxiliary facilities for the operations of the airport.
The general objective of this Project is to determine the main costs and benefits associated with this project and analyze how the economic development impacts could be maximized. The study will perform a diagnostic of problems, limitations and trends of domestic and regional air transport services with the aim to make Lethem an important hub for air transportation between Northern Brazil, Guyana and the Caribbean.
The study will develop a framework and recommendations for the institutional and operational setup at the proposed Lethem Airport based on the diagnosis performed and an efficient operation standard. Preliminary designs and improvement measures regarding infrastructure, technology and safety in accordance with ICAO requirements must also be provided.
The estimated implementation period of the Consultancy is 6 months.
Consultants will be selected in accordance with the policies and procedures set out by the National Procurement Act (2003). The Standard Request for Proposal document can be found on the Ministry’s website (www.mopi.gov.gy) under the Procurement Tab.
